See the friction behind a funnel step.

Use DATALYR session replay to investigate recorded website interactions alongside your conversion analysis. Move from a drop-off question to a concrete interaction you can review and improve.

Compare plans and usage

An event count cannot show every usability problem.

A funnel may reveal that visitors abandon a step while leaving the reason unclear. Session replay offers a visual investigation path for recorded sessions: where a visitor moved, what they encountered and how the interaction unfolded. Use it to form a focused product hypothesis, then verify the effect of a change with appropriate measurement.

Session replay for conversion analysis

Investigate a narrow problem

Start with a page or funnel step where the behavior changed. A focused replay review is more useful than randomly watching sessions without a question.

Connect quantitative and visual evidence

Use event and conversion analysis to locate the issue, then inspect recorded interactions. Neither a small replay sample nor an aggregate chart tells the entire story alone.

Keep collection intentional

Review replay configuration and privacy behavior before rollout. Avoid assuming that a visual record should contain every field a visitor enters.

The workflow

From setup to a useful answer.

  1. Check replay availability

Confirm the site is instrumented and the relevant sessions have recordings. A missing replay is an availability condition, not proof that no visitor reached the page.

  2. Review comparable sessions

Inspect recordings around the same page and acquisition context. Note repeated confusion, navigation loops or failed steps without treating an isolated session as representative.

  3. Test the proposed improvement

Translate the observation into a specific change and a measurable expected outcome. Recheck the funnel after release while accounting for traffic and campaign changes.

Verify the result

Know what good looks like.

  • The relevant page and session have an available recording.
  • Sensitive inputs are handled according to the site’s collection policy.
  • The proposed UX change addresses a repeated observed pattern.

A few practical questions.

Will replay record every visit?

Availability depends on instrumentation, collection settings and supported conditions. Check actual recordings and coverage before relying on replay for an investigation.

Does replay explain why a person left?

It shows recorded interaction, not a person’s internal motivation. Combine the observation with broader behavior data and, where useful, direct user feedback.
